If you’ve landed on my site, it means you’ve found someone whose life and business revolves around the arts—the literary arts, visual arts and body art. People exposed to the arts at an early age develop the crucial life skills of engaged and discerning citizens. The so-called Bohemian Factor has also demonstrated that the presence of artists in an area impacts housing values and regional incomes in a crazy positive way! Here’s to living the magical and creative life, and embracing the often-challenging destiny that comes with it. I love to write. I am the author of six fiction and non-fiction books. I also blogged for Huffpost for 10 years on the arts, culture, lifestyle, politics, and business until they shut down their blogger platform.

I am also  an art dealer, owner of Galerie Lakaye, a contemporary ethnic art gallery specializing in Haitian art. Visit us at www.galerielakaye.com. I love curating art exhibitions and do so for museums, municipal art galleries, and other public spaces. Finally, I am the owner of Lakaye Studio, which introduced henna tattoos to the West Coast in 1997. We manufacture temporary tattoo kits that we sell to stores and direct to customers at www.earthhenna.com.

ABOUT THE BOOK

An appeal to men to help reimagine the patriarchal mindset

Asking men to listen, to reflect, and to take action in helping to reimagine the patriarchal system that has shaped society for generations. With empathy and clarity, it explores how patriarchy harms not just women—but men, families, and entire communities.

Structured as a journey, each chapter dives into themes like power, masculinity, vulnerability, equality, love, and social transformation. It's not a lecture, but a conversation—honest, uncomfortable at times, but always hopeful.

Our company, Lakaye Studio, introduced henna tattoos to the west coast in 1997, when we opened the first henna tattoo studio in the United States. Working with a family of Moroccan farmers, whose henna harvest we purchased every year, our all-natural Earth Henna temporary tattoo kits soon followed. Unfortunately, the Moroccan farmers lost their farm due to devastating droughts. We now buy our henna from India.

Nearly 20 years later, henna tattoos are more popular than they ever were, and our kits are considered the best available on the market! They have been or are currently available at Urban Outfitters, American Eagle Outfitters, Tilly’s, Free People, many Whole Foods stores, and hundreds of art supply and craft and hobby shops around the country, as well as through our websiteEtsy, Amazon.com and more.

Included in our line of products is the Earth Jagua temporary tattoo kit—all-natural, black temporary tattoos from the Amazon that look like the real thing, only they fade away after two weeks! We work directly with the Matsés people in the Peruvian Amazon. They harvest the fruit and ship us the juice that we use to make our product. No trees are cut down; fruit that would fall to the ground and rot is now a cash crop for the Matsés. We follow fair trade practices, and also provide funds to the group for malaria assistance each year.

Come on, you know you want a tattoo. To find out more, visit our popular website at www.earthhenna.com!
